Being that this is my second child, it is really easy to be more lax about things that you were so adamant about with the first child. In an effort to make Hendrix’s arrival just as special as his big sister’s, I sat down this weekend and crafted a baby hospital door wreath as unique as his name.
Currently I am “hunkered down” in my house in Houston as hurricane Harvey makes his way though the Gulf Coast. All is well and I am even afforded some time to get blogging done (thank God for electricity!) I have been wanting to make my two year old daughter Camilla more a part of the preparations for her baby brother’s arrival in 5 weeks. I thought it would be a great idea for her to make some artwork for his room.
It was important to Cameron and I to do something fun with Cami this summer because it was going to be our last real opportunity for it to be our little family of three. This weekend and throughout the 4th of July week we are headed to South Padre Island and I am thrilled to be spending time with the family on the beach. I am preparing for our 6 hour drive with these 7 super easy toddler-friendly DIY road trip activities to keep Cami’s hands and mind busy.
Now that we know the two teams competing for the whole enchilada I feel like I can really get into the spirit of the Big Game. Many of you know that I have been preparing for this game by offering up some fantastic recipes and cocktails to serve at your watch party. While some of these recipes are delicious, ooey gooey, and down right cute, they may leave out some of your more health conscience guest who my be holding tight to their New Year’s resolution diets! With today’s recipe I decided to switch to something a bit lighter without sacrificing flavor and sticking to the Big Game theme.
When everyone is running to the grocery store for pumpkin spiced flavors, I am running to the Walmart refrigerator aisle for egg nog. Cameron and I both love egg nog. I drink it straight with a little cinnamon on top and he enjoys it in his coffee. In celebration of seeing one of our favorite holiday drinks back on the shelves I wanted to come up with a recipe that would be an ode to my beloved egg nog. Naturally I went in the direction of breakfast (my favorite type of food) with my Egg Nog Pancakes and Egg Nog Syrup recipes.
