In order to make this summer more enjoyable (because let’s face it, we all had a less than enjoyable time being cooped up last summer) I am starting now in the spring to prepare for a fun summer for my family. Check out 3 ways your can start preparing for summer right now!
For as long as I can remember the 4th of July has always had a special place in my heart as far as holidays are concerned. There is just something about the whole country coming together and enjoying time with family and friends. That char-grill smell in the air, and the sound of splashes around the pool. Yes, my friends, Independence Day is upon us and I am sharing 3 tips for throwing the best 4th of July Celebration!
With a state as big as mine, it’s super easy to have big reasons to love it! My list of things that aren’t so great comes down to 3 things: heat, humidity, mosquitoes. This summer I am determined to not let mosquitoes kill our vibe of wanting to spend time as a family outside. With a few simple tips to keeping mosquitoes at bay, I am taking back summer and sharing 4 ways to enjoy time outside your family.
I have seen a lot of people posting on social media about their “summer bucket lists”. Some of them are lists of activities they want to do with their kids, or long lists of places they want to visit this summer. If I were to consolidate my wishes of things to do this summer into one list, that list would consist of 2 things: 1. make memories however big or small with my family and loved ones 2. take time for myself. The summer began with my daughter’s pool party birthday and several trips to the neighborhood pool thereafter. As I kept to the shallow end with my son in his floaty I realized I really needed to conquer my fears and learn how to swim not just for myself but for my children.
Wowza! Summer has gotten off to a hot, hot, hot start for us here in Houston. You would think that after 33 summers I would be used to it but nothing could ever prepare you for the equal parts hot/humid summers of Houston, Texas. My main goal this summer is to come up with ways to keep the kids cool. I foresee a lot of days at the pool in our future! My second goal is to the beat the summer blues while I am cooped up at my desk 9-5. Music always helps my work days go by super fast, so I decided to seek out summer time tunes that will be my go-to for the next 3 months with 5 must listen to playlists for the summer.
