I would like to preface this post by saying that I am all about advocating for domestic violence awareness. However, I feel for Janay Rice in that she just wants to be left alone. Most of my readers don’t follow sports, and you don’t have to if you are getting your daily Sideline Socialite fix (insert shameless blog plug here). But whether you keep up with football or not, most of you know about the cray cray video that was leaked by TMZ of Ray Rice punching his then fiancé in a elevator, knocking her unconscious, and dragging her limp body out into the hall way…like I said…cray. Because this blog is to give you the basics on relevant sports happenings, so that you can in turn be able to hold a conversation about it, I feel it is my duty to report to you a brief summary of what is going on with Ray Rice and Janay Rice (Ray and Janay, that’s sort of cute) HOWEVER, my stance is that Janay has been through enough and wants to just be left alone to deal with this issue internally. Besides, the two have a daughter together.
The nation as a whole was UP IN ARMS when Jennifer Lawrence’s naughty bits were publically exposed as a result of a hacking incident. The nerve of someone invading the privacy of America’s sweetheart, but when it comes to this very public exposure that Janay Rice is getting shouldn’t we feel the same shock of privacy invasion for this victim?
Shouldn’t we respect that she just wants to handle this alone? This sentiment was addressed when Janay Rice took to Instagram last week when the video became available to the public: ” If your intensions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you succeeded”.
