Not getting sleep is just something that is expected when you welcome a newborn into your home.  As much as Cameron and I tried to get mentally prepared for it leading up to the arrival or our son Hendrix, nothing can really prepare you because every child is different.  All we had to go on this time around is our 2.5 year old daughter who, according to Cameron, was sleeping through the night at 2 weeks old.  As I started getting closer and closer to the delivery of our son, I noticed that our daughter Camilla was having more and more difficulty sleeping. “They” say that older siblings have a tendency to regress when a new baby is coming because they can sense the changes.  Well honey, that’s exactly what was happening!  Cami, who’s slept like a champ like clockwork from 7PM-6:30AM was now waking up two sometimes three times a night.  I knew that it wouldn’t fly when the baby arrived and something needed to be done.  With the help of DockATot we were able to aid Cami in kicking her sleep regression just in time for the arrival of her baby brother.

DockATot makes docks for both newborns and toddlers.  When I read reviews for the toddler docks I knew that if I wanted a shot at getting in a good 8 hrs. again before the newborn got here I needed to give this a try! On Cami’s second birthday we transitioned her from her crib to her toddler bed, as if that was some magical thing that happens when you turn two.  She HATED her toddler bed and it took several months for her to get used to it.  The DockATot specializes in being the bridge from crib to toddler bed by making the child still feel cozy and protected within the confines of the new bed.

From day one with the DockATot Cami slept through the night.  I couldn’t believe it. She loved snuggling up to the sides and loves reading time in her DockATot even more.

Of course I had to get a DocATot for Hendrix upon his arrival!  Although he is still waking up like clockwork every 3 hours to nurse, the DocATot is great for co-sleeping.  He is able to sleep right in-between Cameron and I so that we both have quick access to him if he needs us and is also safe for the bed.

I have begun working on tummy time with Hendrix and the DockATot is a great tool to prop him up in the tummy time position. Unlike his sister, who hated tummy time, Hendrix loves the vantage point on his tummy propped up on the DockATot.  Although we are still working on the sleeping through the night thing with Hendrix, there is peace of mind knowing that Cami is sleeping soundly and Hendrix will soon be too.  There are definitely mornings of sleeping in on the weekends in the near future for us!
