You know…I entered this football season hopeful. I really did. I had big plans to kill it in my first season of Fantasy Football with my fail-proof system of picking the hottest players for my team. My creative juices were flowing as I strategically planned what recipes I wanted to make perfect for watch parties and tailgates. I was even hopeful with the new Texans quarterback, Deshaun Watson, and JJ Watt off the injured list, that this season would be our year to dominate the play offs. Then…life happened. As it stands my fantasy team record is 4-9, I came into the season 8 months pregnant and exhausted which zapped all creativity, and our new star QB and my favorite Defensive End got injured and benched for the rest of the year before the season was even half way over. Now that some time has passed and I have had time to get over it I now feel as though I have a little of my pre-baby groove back! Not a moment too soon because it’s just about that time to start thinking Super Bowl party thoughts! Today I am sharing a few party ideas and tips from football watch parties I have thrown this season. These football watch party ideas are perfect as you start thinking about the big game.
The Devil Is In The Details
For my Fantasy Football Draft Party I made a few light snacks. I knew that most of my guests would be posted up behind their laptops and I wanted to keep it to finger foods that wouldn’t make their hands super greasy and snacks they could just pop in their mouth as the draft rolled on. I placed the snacks in the center of the table with a black and white striped table runner and named my snacks Fantasy Football theme names. I used chalkboard table signs to write the name of my snacks.
Check out the recipe for my “Draft Day Chow“! It’s great because you can color your chow to go with the your team’s colors and is a super easy added touch to carry out your theme. For the Fantasy Football Draft I colored my chow green and brown and added raw almonds (they reminded me of footballs).
For guests to easily identify their drinks, I used multi colored whistles around the mouth of their beverage glass as a marker.
When guests arrived I repurposed a green plastic table runner into a sort of “green carpet” for them to walk up to my house on. It was a great visual to the theme of my party before guests even got inside.
Think Outside The Box
For a Texans football watch party with some friends of course we had the usual spread…
These Mac and Cheese Bites are a crowd favorite and are the perfect no mess finger food!
For the guests with a sweet tooth I made “grab bags” with these perfect yard line cartons. Each one had a Texans Rice Crispy Treat Jersey and a cookie.
For this Texans football watch party I wanted to do my Game Day Puppy Chow again but this time I colored the chex red, navy, and white to go with our team’s colors.
The perfect cocktail napkins to go with any football party!
And maybe my favorite thing about this football watch party is that I hardly watched the game at all, I was too busy at the nail bar that I created for my girly guests! Yard line bowls held our cotton balls, and my black and white table runner tied the nail bar in with the theme further.
