Cameron and I both have birthdays a week apart in March. I used to be that person who takes the whole month to celebrate, but when I met Cameron I decided my love for him over-rode the fact that my month-long birthday celebrations would be seriously cut short to make room to celebrate him. Love makes us do strange things, doesn’t it?! This year was Cameron’s big 3-0 and I surprised him with a trip to Italy. Most birthday surprises are meant to be awesome, like a vacay to Italy…One surprise that was not awesome for him was what seemed like the morning he turned 30, his back started hurting. That’s right, the day he officially exited out of his 20’s the “old man” aches came about! With old man river tossing and turning on my left, and my growing baby causing me some serious lower back discomfort, we knew it was time to look for a new mattress.
One thing we knew for sure is that we wanted a memory foam mattress for our King bed frame. Cameron is the king of reading reviews and research. We considered at sleep number bed but after hearing about his sister’s dissatisfaction in what she called a “glorified air mattress,” our decision was set on memory foam.
There are 2 things that Cameron and I will not go cheap on. 1. Toilet paper. You can’t trust your nether region to two ply, you just can’t and 2. In light of recent events, a good nights’ rest (i.e. a good mattress). Of course if Camilla had a say in the matter she would want to make sure whatever mattress we got was fun to jump on.
The Serta iComfort Blue Max Touch 1000 was just what we were looking for and much more. This particular mattress solved more than just back discomfort but addressed other issues on our list. With the built in cooling technology, we don’t have to worry about the on/off game with the sheets every night. With low motion transfer, I can hardly feel when Cameron moves which comes in handy when he comes home late from a wedding photography gig and I am already asleep.
We are a few weeks in on our new Serta Mattress from Mattress Firm and Cameron would say that it’s one of the best decisions of his 30’s! I know that I need to savor every good night’s sleep that I can because when our newest bundle of joy arrives, those 8 hour nights of sleep will go out of the window!
