When coming up with recipes for game day, tailgating, or the big game, there are a few things that I factor in before committing it to be served. 1. Is is easy to hold in one hand? 2. Is it messy? and 3. Will it require cutlery? When you are at a game or watching a game the last thing you want to worry about is having to sit at the table with a fork and knife, or getting sauce all over your hands! If you are planning to host a watch party for the big game, these are things you should take into consideration too. Finger foods are key and your guests will appreciate the bite sized portions as well. Maybe I was a little inspired after my recent trip to Israel. Everywhere you go there are olives. We went by numerous olive presses, olives were a part of every meal, we literally visited a place called the “Mount of Olives”. So I think it’s high time that I incorporated them into the perfect bite-sized game day appetizers to serve during the big game.
Cameron is a HUGE fan of olives. He was in hog heaven in Israel with olives being served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As for me, I could take them or leave them. What made me a super fan of olives were these Lindsay olives, paired with cheese to create my olive cheese bites…because…everything is so much better with cheese!
This recipe makes about 40 olive cheese bites but I would recommend doubling it because once you start, you can’t stop popping these guys in your mouth! Hot out of the oven the cheesy breading enhances the Lindsay olives and they just melt in your mouth.
