Is it just me or does it seem like it’s taking FOREVER to get to Easter this year?! Geez! That being said, with all the extra time I have been given, I am still going to wait until the very last minute to get the kid’s Easter baskets together. I have decided that I am OK with Easter almost being in May this year because it’s giving enough time for the cold of winter to disappear as well as the thick pollen, kind of.
Now that my son (18 months) is walking, talking, running, climbing and “doing the most” in general, this will be his first Easter where he will really get to participate in egg hunting and decorating like his big sis. I wanted to make this year special by creating special treats and even a special Easter mocktail that they can enjoy after all the eggs have been found. Finished off with the cutest, not to mention super easy to make drink stirrer, this Easter treat will not disappoint kids and adults alike!
My sister and I always joke about how we like going to baby showers for the “baby shower punch”. You know, the sherbet with the 7UP in it? Gah, we love baby shower punch! With this Easter Mocktail or “Easter Bunny Juice”, this recipe is just as easy and delicious! Sub the sherbet with vanilla or vanilla bean ice cream, and your regular 7UP with cherry, and you pretty much have it done!
And for my favorite part, the DIY cotton tails: take wooden skewers and top with a dab of tacky glue on the flat end of the skewer. Take a white pom pom ball and press it to the glue (I pressed firmly for about 15 seconds.) Then let it dry. In the mean time, use pastel colored 4mm ribbon and make simple small bows. Directly under the pom pom, put a dab of glue and press your ribbon onto the glue. Let it dry and that’s it! This would make for a super easy project to do with your kids to get them into the Easter spirit!
When making your Easter Bunny Juice mocktail, remember to use the liquid Kool-Aid sparingly! Too much can over power your mocktail with the watermelon flavor. You want the Kool-Aid mostly to enhance the pink color. Another fun addition would be to add spring colored confetti sprinkles!
