It’s fall! It’s fall! It’s fall! OMG. I’ve been saying it over and over but now I can actually feel it! I love seeing my neighbors buzzing around their yards, putting up decorations, and getting their lawns fall ready. Everyone seems a little happier with the cooler weather blowing in and that feeling is contagious throughout my neighborhood. Last week I followed suit and fall-ified my front porch. Today I am sharing 3 tips for decorating your front porch this fall just in time for you to prepare for the weekend.

1.Go Pumpkin Crazy!
At my local H-E-B a few weeks ago, I went all-in on pumpkins. There are just so many varieties to choose from! My favorite thing to do when choosing pumpkins for my porch decor is to pick a wide variety. I really love the off-colored or atypical pumpkins. The standard orange round pumpkins are alright, but the warty ones or the white and sage green ones are the ones that shine for me. I make it a competition for my kids to find the most unique pumpkin that they can find and that’s what we use for our porch for all to see!

2. Incorporate Fall Florals
We live on a really busy street and I want to make sure my fall porch pops for all of the passers-by to see. Incorporating fall flowers is wonderful eye-candy for any porch and is such a delight for people walking up to see. Fall has some of the most beautiful flower offerings. The star of corse are chrysanthemums (mums). You can find them in a wide variety of colors. It’s fun to mix and match colors. Mums need bright sun so make sure yours are in a sunny part of your porch or yard.

3. Add Levels
To add interest to your porch and to insure that things are seen, adding levels is a definite “do”. For my porch I used hay bales to rest pumpkins and flower pots on so that I could have some on ground level and some a little higher.

Adding the scarecrows was another way that I added a level to my set up. With the scarecrows being taller, it not only brings the eye up but also adds texture to my porch decor. A bonus is that my kids love them and have named them, haha!
