I have seen a lot of people posting on social media about their “summer bucket lists”. Some of them are lists of activities they want to do with their kids, or long lists of places they want to visit this summer. If I were to consolidate my wishes of things to do this summer into one list, that list would consist of 2 things: 1. make memories however big or small with my family and loved ones 2. take time for myself. The summer began with my daughter’s pool party birthday and several trips to the neighborhood pool thereafter. As I kept to the shallow end with my son in his floaty I realized I really needed to conquer my fears and learn how to swim not just for myself but for my children.
Wowza! Summer has gotten off to a hot, hot, hot start for us here in Houston. You would think that after 33 summers I would be used to it but nothing could ever prepare you for the equal parts hot/humid summers of Houston, Texas. My main goal this summer is to come up with ways to keep the kids cool. I foresee a lot of days at the pool in our future! My second goal is to the beat the summer blues while I am cooped up at my desk 9-5. Music always helps my work days go by super fast, so I decided to seek out summer time tunes that will be my go-to for the next 3 months with 5 must listen to playlists for the summer.
When asked by Cameron what the big deal was about the marriage of Harry and Meghan Markel I had a few answers that I will share concerning the prince and soon-to-be princess while I show pics of the print(s) I am totally obsessed with right now (see what I did there? prince, prints…) the palm print!
I blinked and Mother’s Day is here, again! I don’t know what’s been in the air lately but it seems like several women in my circles have enlisted in the mommy tribe and I am thrilled to take on all the shower throwing, craving runs, and decoration making that is ahead for me as the friend/aunt of these mom’s to be. When talking to a friend about becoming a new mom I inadvertently gave her some advice that seemed pretty legit to give a first time mom. With Mother’s Day around the bend I am offering 5 tips from a semi-new mom (that’s me), to a brand new mom or mom to be.
