Game Day Treats: Texans Football Jersey Rice Crispy Treats

Football season is in full swing, and it’s been pretty intense in my neck of the woods.   Being in a Fantasy Football league has definitely gotten me more involved in what’s going on in the NFL than ever before.  Who knew that I would be so invested in my players?!  So much so that my son was born three Monday’s ago and I was crossing my fingers that he would come before Monday night football kickoff that day…he did…good boy!  Despite the highs and lows of the season so far, and despite the fact that I have no Houston Texans on my fantasy team, I am still a true blue JJ Watt/Texans fan.  I recently had a Texans game watch party and I wanted to combine one of my pregnancy cravings, rice crispy treats, with a little team spirit. For my party I created these super easy Texans Football Jersey Rice Crispy Treats that you can tailor to fit whatever team you love with a few simple steps.

Once you have melted the marshmallows, then the fun part begins.  Use your food coloring to create your team’s jersey color.  Keep in mind that you are having to color the white marshmallows so it may take several drops of food coloring to get the right color, especially if your team has dark colors like the Texans.  I attempted to count my drops but once it got past 100 drops to get this navy color I stopped!  To get the Texans blue I was heavy on the blue food coloring and also added in red food coloring.

Now that you have the perfect color for your jersey, add in the rice crispy cereal.  Stir to make sure the marshmallow coating is covering all of the cereal.

When the marshmallow is well incorporated with the cereal, fill your cookie cutter jersey with the mixture.  It’s best to do this quickly while the mixture is still warm and really pliable.  When you have filled the cookie cutter, simply poke out the form and place on parchment or wax paper to let it set.

I was able to make 7 cereal jerseys by following the measurements of the rice crispy treat recipe on the box.

Now the fun part of decorating! Using the colored decorating icing, add stripes to the sleeves of your jerseys.

And finally, add your numbers.  Use the numbers of your team’s most beloved players.  Initially I was going to make all of mine #99 from JJ Watt, but then I changed my mind and decided to give some of the other Texans guys some rice crispy treat love.
