Catch Me At Super Bowl 2017

If you live in Houston then you already know the anticipation is electric concerning Super Bowl 2017 being in our fair city.  If I keep it real with ya’ll, I don’t know all the x’s and o’s about football and it wasn’t until maybe the past two years that my husband cared about football himself (more on how he all of the sudden became a die-hard later).  But I will say that the excitement of a Super Bowl coming to H-Town is contagious even to moi!   I recently went as far as to sign up to be a volunteer to work Super Bowl 2017 and of course it has little to do with football at all! Here’s why I’m volunteering:

1. It’s on my bucket list to go to a super bowl

I may not watch football all season long, but one night a year I get with my friends, we veg out, and watch whatever teams are competing during this coveted game and that’s all that matters.  I’m in it for the commercials and the half-time performance but I can’t help but be a little envious of the peeps in the crowd knowing that they are a part of such an epic event.  I’d like to tell my grandkids one day in the very very distant future that I was there, NBD.

2. Celebrity sightings for dayzzzz

Nope, I haven’t given up on my 6th grade dream that I would meet Justin Timberlake one day and he’d fall madly in love with me.  And now if I so happen to catch his eye while I’m at Super Bowl LI, I’d have to say “Bye Bye Bye JT.  I am married now, you missed your window when you were canoodling with Britney Spears, and it’s just not meant to be” and he would then go cry himself a river.  I figure I need to make myself available to be in the same places that JT might be so that he can see what he missed out on.  I am also hoping that Chrissy Teigen, Mindy Kaling, Meghan Trainor, and Rashida Jones are there because they are part of my celebrity squad and they don’t know it yet.  I need to tell them so we can be besties and attend events together and have a sing-off battle with Taylor Swift’s squad.

3. I want to be a field attendant

When you fill out the volunteer application it is kind of daunting because you  don’t know where they are going to put you.  I could end up having to clean the bathrooms for all I know!  But If I could choose I would be a field attendant.  You know, one of the ones that waves the flag during the national anthem to make it look like it’s flapping in the wind? Then I would change out of my patriotic garb to get ready for half time which I would then hold an orb or whatever prop and sway side to side during the half time performance…on the 50 yard line…  Yep…that’s the dream!

It’s still early, but we will see how it shakes out.  After a background check (they are playing no games with security!  They pretty much ask you for a blood sample and your first born just to be a volunteer) and a pretty extensive application we will see if I make the cut.  If you live in Houston or are in the area and and want to know more about being a Super Bowl 2017 volunteer, check it out here.
