My Star Wars Themed Baby Shower + $75 Gift Card Give Away

A little known fact about me is that I am kind of a Sci-Fi, Star Wars geek.  There, I said it.  I don’t know what it is about the series, but I grew to love it after I told my husband I had never seen it 3 years ago.  I was pregnant with Cami at the time and I made a deal with him that I would sit down and watch every Star Wars movie with him before the baby got here.  Since then, I have been all about it and anxiously awaiting the new movies as the come out.  When we found out we were having a boy one of the first items I purchased for Hendrix was a Star Wars t-shirt.  When I showed Cameron, he was almost in tears.  I think that was the point when he realized he is getting a little buddy that he can geek out to sci-fi stuff with or play with light sabers with.  Naturally when my friends said they were going to throw me a Star Wars themed baby shower I thought it was the perfect theme as a precursor to the arrival of my little Jedi.

I am a sucker for a themed party and even further I love to dress up for them. When I got wind of the Star Wars themed baby shower my friends thought up, the first thing that came to mind was to dress up like Princess Leia (with the buns and the white gown, the whole 9!)  As it got closer to the shower date and as my belly grew bigger, I decided, ain’t nobody got time for that! To dress the bump I turned to my favorite maternity shop Pink Blush where I can ALWAYS find something, pregnant or not pregnant that catches my eye.  I knew that I wanted to wear something blue because I am a boy mom now and this fitted lace knee length dress caught my eye immediately.  This  dress comes in a variety of colors, and even a variety of blues but the fit was what I loved most about wearing it to the shower.

Feeling like you look great is sometimes hard to achieve when you feel like you are 1,000 pounds heavier than normal.  The day before the Star Wars themed baby shower, I treated myself to a manicure and pedicure which I hadn’t had since the day before Cami was born over 2 years ago! Man, I felt like a million bucks at my shower and the little details my friends put into the event made me feel even better.  All of the snacks were Star Wars themed including: Vader veggies, Princess Lays (chips), seven Leia dip, trooper scoopers (scoop chips for the dip), and “may the fruit be with you” fruit salad.

Because there were light sabers on the table, naturally I had to cut the cake with them.  And obviously I had to make the glowing sound as I did the cutting.  Isn’t the cake the cutest?! The cake was chased down by green “Yoda Soda”.

The fabulous girls that planned the shower all wore Star Wars themed shirts. Two of the four have never seen any of the movies, but I didn’t hold it against them, haha!  From all the little ideas they had, you would have thought they were Star Wars geeks too!
