I was just talking to someone today about why irresponsible people are always the ones that win the lottery. Take this winner for instance…I can’t with that lady. I am for sure playing Powerball this week and if I win, I will totally be the poster child for responsible adults, I promise! Although the odds may not be in my favor, I can’t help but daydream about what I would use the money for and honestly, I don’t even know where to begin. One thing for sure is that I wouldn’t tell anyone right away, seems unsafe…see, I’m already being responsible with my billion! At a whopping estimated $1.4 BILLION, someone has to win it sometime! Let’s just hope it’s not this list of athletes who would spend it all on stupid things immediately upon winning the jackpot!
1. Lamar Odom- Ex Basketball Player
I shiver to think what damage Lamar Odom could do with that powerball money. We already see what he does with his millions (hookers/elicit drugs), but BILLIONS?! That’s a whole lot of hookers!
2. Phil Mickelson- Professional Golfer
Back in June this golf pro was in the hot seat for allegedly wiring $3 Mil to a middle man who was part of “an illegal gambling operation which accepted and placed bets on sporting events.” Phil of course has yet to be charged, but seems to me that with stakes that high it’s safe to say Phil has a serious gambling issue. If I were Phil and I had $3 Mil to blow on a game bet, I would just buy $3 Mil in Powerball tickets! There I go again being responsible with my hypothetical money!
3. Michael Vick- Football Player
To Michael Vick’s credit, he has almost paid off his $18 Mil debt after filling for bankruptcy in 2008. That’s saying a lot considering the 12 cents/hour he was “making” mopping floors in the clink. But that’s about all the credit I’ll give him. I think we can all agree that he is known for making pretty poor decisions and $1.4 Bil in Michael Vick’s hands would be diabolical!
4. Floyd “Money” Mayweather- Professional Boxer
It’s no secret that Floyd Mayweather is ridiculous when it comes to lavishly spending (he eats cereal with diamond encrusted utensils, plays $100,000 hands of blackjack, placed a $5.9 Mil bet on the Miami Heat, has a $50,000 diamond incrusted iPod, and my favorite is the fact that he only wears a pair of boxers once and then throws them away spending on average $6,700 a year on underwear!) I will give Floyd a gold star for the most creative ways to waste money but that’s about it.
