Gender Reveal: Tutus or Touchdowns?

I have to admit, I am not a huge fan of gender reveals.  I’d rather just know when I see the ultrasound, ain’t nobody got time for all the bells and whistles of a party!  That being said, I did a gender reveal for my second pregnancy Easter weekend, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I decided to do it in the name of Sideline Socialite because I came up with a really great theme, tutus or touchdowns, and it just seemed like the right thing to do.  Much to my mother’s chagrin and the fact that she was tormented with the thought of having to wait 3 whole weeks to find out, my sister had the results and we all survived the 3 week wait.  When it comes to party throwing I tend to go overboard, but for this gender reveal I was determined to keep it low key and only invite close family and friends, 10-15 people max. I ended up inviting 25, but other than that, I think I did well in keeping it low key!  I even had a friend of the family do most of the decorating (because I’m tired ya’ll)!  I told her the theme and she went to town!

Each person was able to choose a button to identify which gender they thought baby B would be.  This might have been my favorite element of the whole party.  It was all fun and games until my father-in-law got two buttons suggesting that it would be twins…I didn’t find that funny…

We gathered outside for the reveal for our confetti poppers to launch and the weather just so happened to be perfect for the occasion.  Cam had his touchdown shirt on and Cami represented for team tutu!  For the the people that guessed correctly, Paula (the fab lady that set this party in motion) had gifts for them. The blue bags had gifts for the men at the party who guessed correctly, and the pink bags were goodies for the ladies.

And that was that.  It’s a boy!

Three weeks later I think that I am finally coming out of shock!  Coming from a family of all girls and girl cousins, I wasn’t quite sure what to do about a boy!  Cameron is thrilled and I have no doubt in my mind that Cami is going to boss around her little brother as soon as she can!

Cameron and Cami were set with their t-shirts that Paula made but what about the girl keeping the bump?!  For my gender reveal, I wanted to wear something festive and something comfortable so the baby bump could breathe.  I found this super cute party dress for less than $30 and it’s perfect for the spring time.  Also, anything with fringe is always a “do”.

Although I might be unsure of what it’s like to be a boy mom, what I hear from other mom’s is that it will be the greatest bond I will ever know.  October can’t come soon enough!  We are ready to meet our little guy and I am hoping he looks just like me.

    1. Thanks! For my first, I didn't do one, I just wanted to know as soon as I could. Gender reveals are fun for the rest of the family to participate for sure!
  1. Oh my, as a sister to brothers I was jealous of the bond my brothers had with my mom. As a mother to boys, I love the bond I have with both my sons. It's an indescribable bond, one that is witnessed by the daughter (me). I wonder now if my brothers my wish they have the bond I have as a daughter. Hmm, never looked at it from that aspect. But anyways, it's an anwesome relationship. You're gonna love it!
